Alliance targets rural broadband A new international trade association has formed to promote products and services that provide broadband Internet access using television band frequencies. The San Ramon, Calif.-based WhiteSpace Alliance launched in December with five founding members, including the British aerospace and defense company BAE Systems and the Colorado-based technology consulting firm RelayServices. The WhiteSpace Alliance proposes using unused TV frequencies to provide broadband Internet in rural and developing areas.

Chain drug stores group relocates

The National Association of Chain Drug Stores will move its headquarters to an environmentally friendly office building in Arlington, Va., in October. The $35 million-revenue group is moving into 21,605 square feet of what will be Arlington’s first LEED Platinum office building, at 1776 Wilson Blvd., according to Skanska, the international commercial development firm building the structure. Skanska acquired the site in May 2010 and expects to complete construction of the five-story building in July.
