White named CEO of endocrinology group; Gardner to lead pain research association; more departures and arrivals

Endocrinology group welcomes White as CEO
The American Association of Clinical Endocrinology announced Johnnie White has been selected as CEO, effective March 1, 2024. Suzanne Chaffee Berry has led the organization on an interim basis since June.
“Mr. White brings deep leadership experience in professional associations and societies, as well as within the endocrinology specialty itself. He is absolutely the right person to continue to expand AACE’s presence worldwide and execute on our mission,”said Susan L. Samson, President-Elect of AACE, and Chair of the CEO Search Committee.
White has led the American Society of Appraisers since April 2019. He has also been an adjunct professor at Georgetown University and Northern Virginia Community College. Earlier in his career, he was executive director of the Cardiovascular Research Foundation and held senior roles at the American Academy of Otolaryngology and The Endocrine Society.
He has bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Maryland.

Gardner joins pain research association
The International Association for the Study of Pain named Steve Gardner its next CEO. He succeeds Colleen Eubanks, who stepped down in July after leading for three years.
Gardner was most recently a senior advisor at consultancy NorthStar Policy Navigation. Previously, he was CEO of the National Organization of Social Security Claimants’ Representatives. Earlier in his career, he worked for the Corn Refiners Association, US Pharmacopeia, The Aluminum Association and the American Chemistry Council.
He has a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Maine and a master’s in communications from the University of Louisiana Monroe.

Weaver returns to state pharmacy group
The National Alliance of State Pharmacy Associations appointed Krystalyn Weaver as its executive vice president and CEO. She succeeds Rebecca Snead, who led NASPA from 2002 to 2023 before joining the National Community Pharmacists Association.
“Dr. Weaver’s strategic drive and distinguished career in the pharmacy community make her the perfect choice to lead NASPA into the next phase of its development,” said Elise M. Barry, NASPA board president.
Weaver has spent the past two years as an associate at law firm Sidley Austin. She previously worked for NASPA between 2013 and 2019, having held the titles of director of policy and state relations, and vice president of policy and operations.
She has a doctorate in pharmacy from the University of Toledo and a law degree from George Mason University.

Business Roundtable—Maria Ghazal will leave her position as senior vice president and counsel at nonprofit lobbyist association Business Roundtable to join the Healthcare Leadership Council as president and CEO. Ghazal has worked for Business Roundtable since 2005 and has held a number of leadership positions during her tenure.

American Council of Life Insurers—Andrew Remo has joined ACLI as vice president of retirement security. He spent the past 11 years at the American Retirement Association, most recently as director of federal and state legislative affairs. Previously, he worked as a legislative aide to U.S. Sen. Benjamin Cardin (D-Md).
American Petroleum Institute—Mason Hamilton is joining API as vice president of economics and research. He was previously special assistant to the secretary general at the International Energy Forum. Earlier in his career, he spent seven years at the U.S. Energy Information Administration.
Federation of American Hospitals—Adam Broder has joined FAH as senior vice president of external affairs. Broder has spent the past eight years at FTI consulting, most recently as managing director of public affairs and crisis communications. He was previously research director and strategic communications adviser for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, where he worked for seven years.
National Association of Wholesaler-Distributors—Meghan Cieslak has been named chief communications and marketing officer at NAW. She joins the group from the International Foodservice Distributors Association, where she has spent the past six years. Earlier in her career, she worked for the Next Generation in Trucking Association, Electronic Transactions Association and National Association of Energy Service Companies.
Transportation Intermediaries Association—Melanie Hinton has joined TIA as vice president of marketing and communications. She has spent the past seven years as vice president of communications and marketing at the American Bus Association. Earlier in her career, she also worked for Airlines for America and the Association for Uncrewed Vehicle Systems International.
