CEO Departures
Rosenberg to step down from camp group
The $11M-revenue American Camp Association announced Tom Rosenberg will step down as president and CEO in October. Chief Operating Officer Henry DeHart has been named interim CEO. Rosenberg, who has helmed the association since October 2016, will provide support to DeHart through the end of the year, according to a press release from ACA.
Prior to joining ACA, Rosenberg was executive director of Camp Judaea and director of Blue Star Camps.
The ACA Board of Directors will begin a search for Rosenberg’s successor.
“Each of us on the board and staff will move forward with the same dedication and focus Tom brings to our mission," said Board Chair Lizabeth Fogel. “Change brings opportunity. We’re excited about our future together and are appreciative of Henry’s steady leadership during this period of transition.”

Johnson named leader of coatings group
The $8.8M-revenue American Coatings Association announced Mike Johnson will take over as president and CEO, effective Nov. 1. He will succeed Andy Doyle, who has led the association since 1988 and announced his plans to retire in March.
“We look forward to Mike’s leadership at ACA and are confident his knowledge and experience will propel the paint and coatings industry and the association forward over the next several years,” said Jeff Powell, ACA chairman.
Johnson will join ACA from the National Stone, Sand, & Gravel Association, where he has been president and CEO since 2013. Previously, he spent seven years at the National Beer Wholesalers Association, where he was executive vice president and chief advocacy officer. He also held the roles of vice president of government affairs for the Wine & Spirits Wholesalers of America and director of congressional affairs for the National Association of Home Builders.
He has a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Kentucky.

Witchey to lead behavioral health group
The Association for Behavioral Health and Wellness announced Debbie Witchey has been named president and CEO of the $1.7M-revenue group, effective Oct. 1. She will succeed Pamela Greenberg, who has led the association since 1998.
“Debbie brings deep health care experience and visionary leadership, and we are confident that she will build on the strong foundation established by Pamela and lead ABHW to new heights,” said ABHW Board Chair Adam Easterday.
Witchey will join the group from the Healthcare Leadership Council, where she began working in 2001 and is currently executive vice president and chief operating officer. Previously, she worked at health care provider Roper St. Francis Healthcare and the U.S. Department of the Treasury.
She has a bachelor’s degree in public policy from Duke University and a master’s degree in health administration from the Medical University of South Carolina.

National Retail Federation—Jill Dvorak has returned to the $69M-revenue NRF as senior vice president of content. She was previously vice president of content and retail strategy at NRF from 2017 to 2022. Most recently, she was chief content officer at e-commerce conference and community CommerceNext.
NCTA – The Internet & Television Association—Shannon Scott has been named senior vice president and chief financial officer of $66M-revenue NCTA. She previously spent four years at public charity New Venture Fund, where she was chief financial officer. Earlier in her career, she also held the title of chief financial officer at the Greater Washington Community Foundation, National Housing Trust and Council on Foundations.

O’Brien to step down at inland marine insurance group
The $1.2M-revenue Inland Marine Underwriters Association announced President and CEO Kevin O’Brien will step down from his role Jan. 31, 2025, after 14 years at the helm.
“When I assumed this role, I set out with two primary goals: to establish IMUA as the standard for professional development within the industry and to strengthen the organization’s financial foundation. I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished. Membership is at an all-time high, including adding five national brokers, and our financial position is stronger than ever,” O’Brien said in a statement.

Riley to take the reins at public television group
America’s Public Television Stations ($4.4M-revenue) announced Kate Riley will take over as president and CEO, effective Oct. 1. She will succeed Patrick Butler, who is retiring after leading for nearly 14 years.
“Kate Riley is the ideal candidate to lead America’s Public Television Stations into the future,” said APTS Board Chair Franz Joachim. “She has the intelligence, the experience and the vision we need to succeed in an increasingly challenging and complex media environment, and her passion for public service will inspire us every day.”
Riley joined APTS (then named the Association of Public Television Stations) in 2010 as director of government relations and is currently the group’s vice president of government and public affairs. Previously, she was legislative director for U.S. Rep. Loretta Sanchez (D-Calif.).

She joined the organization in 2000 as executive vice president before adding the title of chief communications officer in 2010. Previously, she was senior partner, director local TV and radio, U.S. at Ogilvy, where she spent 17 years.
U.S. Tire Manufacturers Association—Sarah Amick has left her position as senior vice president and senior counsel at the $8M-revenue U.S. Tire Manufacturers Association, where she spent 15 years. Mowry named leader of aerospace group
The American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics announced Clay Mowry will take over as CEO of the $21M-revenue group, effective Oct. 1. He will succeed Dan Dumbacher, who is leaving the group after nearly seven years at the helm.
“Clay is an aerospace visionary, with a distinguished track record of driving organizations to achieve incredible goals,” said AIAA President Dan Hastings. “We are confident he will advance the Institute’s influence and impact on the issues and challenges confronting our community. We welcome his unparalleled passion for building the next generation of international aerospace explorers and leaders.”
Mowry has been president of the International Astronautical Federation since September 2022 and will continue volunteering for the nonprofit through October 2025. Previously, he spent over two years as chief revenue officer of space exploration company Voyager Space. He also spent 15 years as president and chairman of launch services company Arianespace, Inc.
He has a bachelor’s degree in politics and government from Ohio Wesleyan University and a master’s degree in business administration from Georgetown University.

Wentworth promoted at internet group
The Internet Society announced the appointment of Sally Wentworth as the $43M-revenue group’s president and CEO, effective immediately. She succeeds Andrew Sullivan, who led the organization for the past six years. Wentworth will also lead the Internet Society Foundation.
“Sally’s commitment to the mission of the Internet Society and her long engagement with our community and partners have given her a deep understanding of technology policy, Internet governance, and the impact that the Internet can have as a force for good. Though the Internet faces new challenges, that breadth of experience makes her the best choice to lead the Internet Society in its continued efforts to ensure that the Internet is for everyone,” said Ted Hardie, chair of the Internet Society Board of Trustees.
Wentworth joined the Society in 2009 as vice president of global policy development before being named senior vice president in 2020. Prior to being named president and CEO, she was managing director of the group for nearly two years. Earlier in her career, she held positions at the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy and the U.S. Department of State.

Smith to succeed Cove at sports and fitness group
The $1.6M-revenue Sports and Fitness Industry Association announced Todd Smith will succeed longtime leader Tom Cove as president and CEO, effective Oct. 1. Cove announced his intent to retire earlier this year after leading since 2005.

Max Martin has joined as chief learning officer and senior vice president. He was previously head of talent management at PenFed Credit Union, where he spent six years. Earlier in his career, he spent seven years at Capital One in various learning and development roles.

Weinstein to helm health care accreditation group
The Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) announced Debra Weinstein has been appointed president and CEO of the $74M-revenue group, effective Jan. 1, 2025. She will succeed Thomas J. Nasca, who will step down at year end following a 17-year tenure.
“Dr. Weinstein’s distinction in the field is evidenced by her being honored with the ACGME Parker Palmer Courage to Lead and John C. Gienapp Awards,” said ACGME Board of Directors Chair Claudia Wyatt-Johnson. “These accolades are a testament to her exceptional leadership, and it is this leadership, coupled with her many contributions to GME, that will bring immense value to the public, the profession, and the outstanding ACGME team.”
Weinstein is currently executive vice dean for academic affairs and professor of learning health sciences and internal medicine at the University of Michigan Medical School, as well as chief academic offer for Michigan Medicine. Previously, she was vice president for graduate medical education at health care system Mass General Brigham. She was also an associate professor of medicine at Harvard University.
She has a bachelor’s degree in music from Wellesley College and a medical degree from Harvard Medical School.
Landers named inaugural leader of health care alliance
The newly merged NAHC-NHPCO Alliance announced Steven Landers has been appointed the group’s first CEO. The Alliance, which consists of the $10M-revenue National Association for Home Care & Hospice and the $11M-revenue National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization, completed an affiliation agreement in June.
“Dr. Landers’ rich and diversified experience makes him the ideal candidate to lead our membership as our organization evolves,” said Alliance Transition Board Vice Chair Melinda Gruber. “Working alongside community health workers and within our patients’ homes, he understands what we need as frontline caregivers and advocates.”
Landers most recently founded and is president of Landers StratAGEy, a consulting and advisory company. Previously, he was president and CEO of Hebrew SeniorLife, a Harvard Medical School affiliate organization that provides health care to adults 62 and older. Landers is also the former president and CEO of VNA Health Group, where he spent 11 years, and director of the Center for Home Care and Community Rehabilitation for the Cleveland Clinic.

The National Association of Realtors announced Nykia Wright, who has led the $328M-revenue organization on an interim basis since November 2023, has been appointed permanent CEO.

Micklos to lead care organizations group
NAACOS, the National Association of ACOs, announced Jeff Micklos will succeed the retiring Clif Gaus as president and CEO this fall. Gaus co-founded the $5.5M-revenue organization and has led since.

Meyers named leader of ultrasound group
Steven R. Meyers has been appointed CEO of the $5.5M-revenue American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine, effective Sept. 8. He will succeed John Thorner, who was named interim CEO in January.
“With more than a decade of hands-on and leadership experience across all facets of nonprofit operations, including membership, finances, education, industry relations, event planning, grant funding and inter-society collaboration, Steve brings a wealth of critical knowledge to our organization,” said AIUM President Richard Hoppmann.
Meyers was most recently chief strategy officer and chief membership officer of the Endocrine Society. Previously, he was senior director of membership of the American Chemical Society, where he spent nearly 12 years.

Mechler to lead thyroid association
The $3.8M-revenue American Thyroid Association announced Pam Mechler will take over as the group’s executive director, effective Sept. 9. She will succeed Amanda Perl, who left the organization in May. Perl is now CEO of the American Society of Human Genetics.
“We strongly believe that Ms. Mechler will be an outstanding leader and driving force for achievement of the mission and goals of the ATA and beyond, limited only by the imagination and resources of the talented members and staff of the ATA,” said ATA President Mike McDermott.
Mechler has spent the past 29 years at the American College of Radiology, where she was most recently vice president of strategy management and foresight. Wood takes the helm at insurance group
The Council of Insurance Agents & Brokers announced Joel Wood has succeeded Ken Crerar as president and CEO of the $24M-revenue group. Crerar joined the organization in 1987 as vice president of government affairs and has led since 1992. He will transition into the role of executive chair.
“Joel is a consummate relationship builder and an absolute expert in our industry and our members. He knows our business and our issues inside and out. We have worked together over 30 years as both colleagues and friends and I have all the confidence in Joel as he now takes the helm of The Council,” Crerar said in a statement.
Wood, who has been The Council’s lead regulatory and government affairs officer since 1993, was promoted from senior vice president of government affairs to president of CIAB in 2022. Earlier in his career, he was a press and legislative director for Rep. Don Sundquist (R-Tenn.).

Beddoe appointed CEO of nursing organization
ANA Enterprise, the overarching organization of the $36M-revenue American Nurses Association, American Nursing Credentialing Center and American Nurses Foundation, announced Angela Beddoe has been appointed CEO of the group as of Aug. 5. Beddoe was named interim CEO in April, succeeding former Acting CEO Debbie Hatmaker.

Hannah Hurley has been appointed vice president of communications. Hurley was most recently deputy chief of staff for communications for Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (I-Ariz.). She was previously press secretary for the Senate Majority PAC in 2018.
Additionally, Geoff Werth has been named FAH’s vice president of government relations. He was most recently a principal at K10 Government Relations. Previously, he was head of government relations at biopharmaceutical company Harmony Biosciences. Davis to lead nursing organization
Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing announced Lucas Davis has been appointed CEO of the $12M-revenue group, effective Aug. 19. He will succeed Liz Madigan, who stepped down last year following five years at the helm.
“Luke Davis brings a wealth of operational and leadership experience to the chief executive officer position, along with an infectious energy and enthusiasm. I look forward to seeing his impact as Sigma continues its tradition of excellence under his leadership,” said Sigma President Sandra C. Garmon Bibb in a statement.
Davis will join Sigma from the International Coaching Federation, where he has served as vice president and chief staff officer since 2019. Most recently, he was executive director of National University College, a for-profit university. Previously, he was executive director and CEO of education company CAMPUSPEAK.
He has a bachelor’s degree in social and behavioral sciences from Western Kentucky University and a master’s degree in education from the University of Missouri-Saint Louis.

Hoarle to helm oncology group
The Society of Gynecologic Oncology announced Kimberly Hoarle will take over as CEO of the group, effective Sept. 16. She will succeed Pierre Désy, who left the group last year after leading for seven years.

Hoarle has spent the past seven years at the American Burn Association, where she is executive director. She has a bachelor’s degree in human development and social policy from Northwestern University and a master’s degree in business administration from Roosevelt University.

Mathews to retire from animal medicine group
The $4.8M-revenue Animal Health Institute announced President and CEO Alexander S. Mathews will retire from the group at year end. Mathews has led AHI since 1995. Previously, he was general counsel for the American Meat Institute.
Ester Banque, chair of the AHI Board, announced the board will appoint a search committee to find Mathews’ successor.
“We seek a leader who will build on AHI’s record of success and help craft a policy environment that strengthens companies’ abilities to bring exciting new innovations to the market,” said Banque. “The animal health industry enables the human animal bond and contributes to sustainability, food safety, pandemic prevention and response, as well as other important societal goals. There are exciting new technologies available to protect the health and welfare of both livestock and our companion animals and we need a science-driven policy environment to realize this potential,” said Banque in a statement.

Ferguson to succeed Pantuso at motorcoach group
The $4.3M-revenue American Bus Association announced Fred Ferguson will succeed Peter Pantuso as president and CEO of the organization, effective July 29. Pantuso announced earlier this year his plans to retire after leading ABA for 28 years. In his new role, Ferguson will also serve as president of the National Bus Traffic Association.
“As we move forward and into this new era for travel and transportation,” said Terry Fischer, chair of ABA’s Board of Directors, “it’s imperative that our members’ voices be heard at all levels of government. Fred’s years of experience in advocacy and communications make him the perfect leader to navigate these new roads ahead.”
Ferguson will join ABA from outdoor sports company Vista Outdoor, where he was most recently vice president of public affairs and communications. Previously, he held the title of vice president of government and industry relations. He also spent eight years at the U.S. House of Representatives, where he served as a chief of staff and legislative director.
He has a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Utah and a master’s degree in business administration from Oklahoma State University.

Dustin promoted at accounting group
The $40M-revenue National Association of State Boards of Accountancy announced Daniel J. Dustin will succeed Ken L. Bishop as president and CEO, effective Aug. 1. Bishop, who joined NASBA in 2007 and has led since 2012, announced his retirement plans last November.
“Dan’s long history and expertise in accounting regulation makes him uniquely qualified to assume the role as president and CEO of NASBA,” said NASBA Chair Stephanie M. Saunders. “I have had the distinct opportunity to collaborate with Dan over the years on key initiatives and programs including the Uniform Accountancy Act, CPA Evolution and Professional Licensure. This is an exciting time for our organization, especially as he will lead NASBA into the future to fulfill the mission of enhancing the effectiveness and advancing the common interests of the 55 U.S. Boards of Accountancy.”
Dustin joined NASBA in 2012 and has held the role of vice president of state board relations since. Previously, he was executive secretary for the New York State Board for Public Accountancy, where he spent 13 years.

Interim CEO named at packaged goods group
The $20M-revenue Consumer Brands Association announced Stacy Papadopoulos, CBA’s chief operating offer and general counsel, will serve as interim CEO of the group starting Aug. 2. Current CEO David Chavern will be joining the American Council of Life Insurers as president and CEO, effective Sept. 1.
Papadopoulos joined CBA in 2019 as general counsel and senior vice president of operations and initiatives before being promoted to COO in 2023. She previously spent five years at the American Gaming Association, most recently as general counsel and senior vice president of industry services. Earlier in her career, she was a partner at Potomac Law Group, where she worked for nearly five years.

Brenner (Brie) Allen has been named chief legal officer of NASBA. She has spent the past three years as senior legal counsel for U.K.-based consulting firm The Behavioural Insights Team. Her previous roles include regulatory counsel for NASBA, partner at law firm Allen & Pinnix and legal analyst for the American Bar Association Rule of Law Initiative.
William (Bill) Emmer has been appointed vice president of operations. He has worked as an independent consultant for the past 14 years and was the enterprise program manager of the Uniform CPA Examination, where he oversaw daily operations for NASBA, AICPA and Prometric. Previously, he spent 10 years at Universal Music Group.
Sedrik Newbern will serve as president of the NASBA Center for the Public Trust, as well as chief ethics officer of NASBA. Newbern joined the organization in 2019 as CPT operations director. He became a consultant for the group in 2021. Earlier in his career, he spent 19 years at Allstate.
Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America—Teresa Buckley Bill has returned to $568M-revenue PhRMA as deputy vice president. She rejoins the group from biopharmaceutical company Gilead Sciences, where she was senior director of federal government affairs. In her previous stint at PhRMA, she was senior director for federal affairs. Earlier in her career, she spent six years at the U.S. House of Representatives.
Semiconductor Industry Association—Carrie Esko has been named $13M-revenue SIA’s director of global policy for trade and supply chain. She joins the group from the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative, where she was most recently director for ICT services and digital trade. Earlier in her career, she spent three years at the U.S. International Trade Commission.
TechNet—Drew Hudson is joining $10M-revenue TechNet as general counsel and director of federal policy. He was previously legislative director for Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.).

Pease to retire from craft brewers group
The $25M-revenue Brewers Association announced Bob Pease will step down as president and CEO of the group in early 2025.
“After careful consideration, I believe it is time to help this great association transition to new leadership and for me to move on to new endeavors,” reflected Pease. “Over the last three decades, I have witnessed the Brewers Association grow from a small, narrowly focused association to one that is now a power player on important issues facing the industry domestically and internationally. Throughout my time at the helm of the Brewers Association, we have helped our members navigate explosive growth and unprecedented challenges. In doing so, we have put the BA on the map as a political force.
Pease joined the organization in 1993 as a customer service manager before holding the titles of operations director, vice president and chief operating officer. He was named CEO in 2014.

Porter promoted at health care groups
The $44M-revenue American Health Care Association/National Center for Assisted Living announced Clifton J. Porter, II will succeed longtime leader Mark Parkinson as president and CEO this fall. Parkinson plans to retire in early 2025, following 14 years at the helm.
